What Are PCA Services?

Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Services provide assistance and support for people with disabilities of all ages, to live in their own homes rather than in institutions or facilities. PCA services assist people with a physical, behavioral or mental health disability live independent lives.

A PCA provides hands on assistance and/or reminders, prompts, or observation of Activities of Daily Living, (ADL) which include the following:

Dressing, Bathing, Grooming, Eating, Toileting, Transfers, Mobility and Positioning.

Client’s are assessed for a certain number of hours per day and will decide when they want to use their hours. The Client or Responsible Party must be able to direct and train their PCA on cares to be performed.
